Landlords are required by N.J.S.A. 46:8-28, (Certificate of registration; filing, contents) to register their rental property with the Municipal Clerk. The registration requirement applies to all rental premises or units used for dwelling purposes, except those owner-occupied premises with not more than two rental units. The landlord must file the landlord registration within thirty (30) days of transfer of tenants.
