Municipal Budget

The Township's municipal budget is a two-part legal document that records the Township's revenue and appropriations.  State law requires that the Township pass a budget, and this is done by a majority vote by the Township Council.  By passing the budget Council provides the Township with the funds to perform municipal services.  Once the budget is passed, the local purpose property tax rate is struck.  It is important to note that the Township Council is only responsible for approximately 25% of your property tax bill; the local purpose tax rate and the local open space tax rate.  Other taxing bodies are responsible for their own tax rates.
